Moving from MacGourmet to Menu Planner 2
Menu Planner 2 brings over every recipe you have in MacGourmet in one go. Export them from MacGourmet, open the file in Menu Planner 2, and they’re in your Kitchen, ready to plan meals with.
1. Export your recipes from MacGourmet
- In MacGourmet on your Mac, export your recipes in the MacGourmet format.
2. Open them in Menu Planner 2
- Get the file onto the device you use Menu Planner 2 on. iCloud Drive, AirDrop or email work on iPhone, iPad and Mac; on Android, save it to Downloads or Google Drive.
- In Menu Planner 2, open the Kitchen, choose New Recipe, then From Other Recipe Apps. You’ll also find Import Recipes from Other Apps in Settings, under Import & Export.
- Pick MacGourmet in the list, then Choose File, and pick the file you exported. On a Mac, you can also drag the file onto the Menu Planner 2 window.
- Every recipe in the file is selected, except ones that look like recipes you already have. Choose Import, and they’re in your Kitchen.
Steps for each device are in the Help Guide: Moving your recipes from another recipe app.
What comes across
- Each recipe’s name, its ingredients (with their headings) and its steps
- Photos
- Descriptions
- Prep and cook times
- Servings
- Nutrition
- Where each recipe came from
- Notes
- Categories, as tags. Any tag you don’t have yet is made for you.
Each one comes across when MacGourmet’s file has it.
Good to know
- Importing is free, and you don’t need an account.
- Your recipes in MacGourmet aren’t changed.
- You can stop the import at any time. The recipes imported so far stay.
- Recipes that look like ones you already have start unselected, so importing the same file twice doesn’t make copies.
